First rain water is considered to be the first rainwater runoff relating to any meteoric event preceded by at least 48 hours of dry weather, for a height of 5 mm of uniformly distributed precipitation.

By definition, the washout of external surfaces, operated by rainwater or washing water, can constitute a pollution factor in the following production sectors and / or specific activities:

– Oil industry;

– Chemical industries / plants;

– Metal production and transformation plants (iron and steel production plants / ferrous metal foundries);

– Surface treatment and coating of metals;

– Fuel distribution stations;

– Wholesale deposits of liquid and / or solid preparations / substances, including dangerous ones;

– Deposits of vehicles destined for scrapping / demolition of motor vehicles;

– Waste deposits, collection / storage / transformation centers;

– Mineral or synthetic oil processing plants and deposits for commercial use of the same substances;

– Intermodal areas intended for the exchange of goods and materials;

– Tanning and dyeing of hides and leather;

– Production of pulp, paper and cardboard;

– Tire production;

– Judicial custody of vehicles and motorcycles, limited to areas intended for accident or damaged vehicles;

– Car repair shops;

– Bodywork;

– Car washes

 

Operation

The plant designed by Eco Depuration has been designed for wastewater produced following a rainy event, coming from the washout of yards, courtyards, loading and unloading areas and any other similar uncovered surface for mixed use for storage or handling of raw materials or waste. The first rain water derived from the drainage well is delivered to the accumulation and lifting section.

Once the tank has been filled, the float shut-off valve blocks the entry of further water coming from the overflow well, thus allowing the overflow of the second rain water as it is, as allowed by current legislation. The water in the tank, equalized as a chemical composition, will be taken up by an electric pump and sent to the subsequent oil separation treatment which allows, even with the presence of the coalescing filter, the separation of the oil particles present in the water, which float on the surface.
